Meet Miranda, Your Private Midwife and IBCLC Lactation Consultant.
For the women who know they deserve more than just a healthy baby.
I’m Miranda Sykes, a private midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) working with parents-to-be and families across West and South West London.
I spent over a decade working full-time within the NHS maternity system before carving out an additional path as Midwife Miranda.
While continuing my role as an NHS specialist mental health midwife, I now work alongside your NHS team to give you the time, continuity, and honest support that isn’t always possible within standard maternity appointments.

Each health professional sees only a snapshot of your journey, but I see the whole picture. With me, you’ll never have to start your story from scratch.
Less like a traditional NHS midwife…
Ten years in the NHS has given me the privilege of sitting with women through the biggest change of their lives. It has also shown me how little time there is to talk to them about it.
Appointments are short. Questions get asked in a nervous rush, and often go unanswered. And it isn't good enough. Not because the NHS doesn't care, but because the system isn't built to give you the space and attention you deserve.
My midwifery and lactation support packages do not exist to replace NHS-led maternity care. What I offer is everything that NHS-led maternity care misses.

… more like your knowledgeable older sister.
My clinical background comes from over 12 years of NHS community and hospital midwifery, including antenatal, labour, and postnatal care.
I also have specialist experience in supporting perinatal mental health, and I understand the emotional challenges many couples and families face throughout pregnancy and becoming parents.
I’ll never tell you what you should do, but I will tell you what the evidence says, what your options actually are, and what each one really means.
With me as your private midwife and IBCLC, your decisions will always stay with you. Exactly where they belong.
